With a solid start to a promising musical career, Kris presents a lifetime of learning music theory and living to the fullest. The way she’s let the musical influences meld her style feels majestic. From the beginning in classical to growth into pop music, she reverses the path that so many other young artists journey down.
Her whole life, from the age of three, seems to have been destined for this direction. At three, she learned the violin; at six, she discovered her go-to instrument to the present day – the piano. The grace she plays with suggests Chopin and Debussy, for she finds strength in soft tones.
This approach suited her well, whereas she remained silent, letting the instrument speak for her. In college, she pursued film scoring and spent her time doing that. For the first few years, that is what she toiled over, resulting in the broad, sweeping strokes that continue to define her work. Toward the end of her time there, she decided to engage in something she never had before – she decided to sing.
With this recent dive into singing, it is remarkable that only a year later, she’s come out with “Where Do I Begin?” a rumination on love, death, sexuality, and caring about oneself. Beauty can be found in the immersive and how it unfurls by embracing these universal themes. There is something about her view on life that feels refreshingly honest, earnest, and downright gorgeous.
